The only Expo that connects China and the U.S. TV and Film Industries

The U.S China Film and Television Industry (UCFTI) Expo has become the largest annual expo in the world connecting the world’s two leading entertainment marketplaces: the U.S. and China.

UCFTI Association works year-round to produce the annual Expo, as well as foster relationships to connect the United States and Chinese film and television industries, and develop relationships among professionals for financial deals, partnerships, joint ventures, exchange, training, and cooperation.

About the 2016 UCFTI Expo

The UCFTI Expo is a two-day event comprised of robust panel sessions and speakers with top entertainment executives; exhibits featuring the latest technology, equipment and entertainment information; an annual student film competition; and screenings of co-production films hosted by the the Motion Picture Association.

On Nov. 3, the 2016 Expo will feature the inaugural presentation of the Golden Screen Awards – the first U.S./China awards event to take place in the United States. Hosted by the MPA and China Film Co-Production Co., the awards honor excellence in international co-productions.

In recent years, top executives from 20th Century Fox, Warner Bros., Oriental Dreamworks, China Media Capital, IMAX, the Weinstein Company, O’Melveny, Lionsgate, and more have spoken during the two days of panels. In addition, organizations including the Producers Guild of America (PGA) and the Writers Guild of America (WGA) have also participated.

The Expo also includes a film competition, open to students of University of Southern California (USC) School of Cinematics Arts, Chapman University, California State University, Northridge (CSUN), and California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). The top three finalists of the competition will have their films previewed at the UCFTI Expo prior to announcing the competition winner.

The UCFTI Association will also host a film funding showcase on November 4 to offer a platform for filmmakers to pitch original projects to investors and producers from the U.S. and China.

UCFTI Inc. was established in February 2013 in Los Angeles as a member of IAEE (International Association of Exhibitions and Events) and NAB (National Association of Broadcasters).

In September 2013, Ernest Wooden, the President of the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board and the former Mayor of Los Angeles, Antonio Villaraigosa, helped announce the UCFTI Expo, alongside UCFTI Association CEO Bianca Chen during a press conference at the Beijing International Film Festival.

In 2014, Eric Garcetti, Mayor of Los Angeles, attended the Expo and praised the event saying, “it is a win-win situation for companies and people in both the U.S. and China… the Expo not only discusses how American films can make money in China, but also how Chinese films and culture can take root here.”

The UCFTI Association is recognized by governmental bodies in both countries, having received recognition two years in a row from the U.S.– China Consultation on People-to-People Exchange (CPE) for its accomplishments in strengthening ties between the U.S. and China film industries and for its efforts in uniting the two cultures.
