History

UCFTI Inc. was established in February 2013 in Los Angeles as a member of IAEE (International Association of Exhibitions and Events) and NAB (National Association of Broadcasters).

In September 2013, Ernest Wooden, the President of the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board and the former Mayor of Los Angeles, Antonio Villaraigosa, helped announce the UCFTI Expo, alongside UCFTI Association CEO Bianca Chen during a press conference at the Beijing International Film Festival.

In 2014, Eric Garcetti, Mayor of Los Angeles, attended the Expo and praised the event saying, “it is a win-win situation for companies and people in both the U.S. and China… the Expo not only discusses how American films can make money in China, but also how Chinese films and culture can take root here.”

The UCFTI Association is recognized by governmental bodies in both countries, having received recognition two years in a row from the U.S.– China Consultation on People-to-People Exchange (CPE) for its accomplishments in strengthening ties between the U.S. and China film industries and for its efforts in uniting the two cultures.
